Colombia holds benchmark interest rate at 12.25%

Colombia's central bank held its benchmark rate at %12,25, leaving policy unchanged at its latest decision. At that level, Colombia maintains one of the highest benchmark rates in Latin America, which continues to attract carry-trade flows into the Colombian peso but simultaneously pressures domestic credit demand. A prolonged hold rather than a cut cycle can delay the relief borrowers and rate-sensitive sectors were pricing in.
